Medical Alert Products and Features
Medical Alert Products and Features
Medical Alert offers two core products to consumers – The Medical Alert In-Home (landline or cellular) system, and the Medical Alert On-The Go (mobile) medical alert system. While offering less products than some other providers, Medical Alert’s systems can be outfitted with all of the core features that a senior needs to ensure protection. Medical Alert’s systems just work – what they lack in number of products and options is made up for in their quality and reliability. They offer landline and cellular base stations (in partnership with AT&T), GPS tracking, fall detection, and even have an app available for family members or caregivers to help monitor their senior’s activity for an added layer of protection.
MedicalAlert.com In-Home systems deliver protection to older adults who want to sty in in their homes. The product is a basic, no frills medical alert monitoring system. It consists of a base station that plugs into a landline, and a medical alert pendant button or wrist button. While there are not a lot of features, the product does its job well. The base station has a large call button to reach MedicalAlert.com’s 24/7 monitoring center to initiate two way communication through the quality speaker in the base station. When away from the base station, the alert button can be pressed to signal the monitoring center that help is needed.
If a senior does not have a landline in the home, MedicalAlert.com has a wireless option, which connects to the AT&T wireless network. Pricing for MedicalAlert’s in-home unit starts at $19.95/month for the at home landline unit, and $29.95/month for the no-landline unit. Fall detection can be added to either product for an additional $10/mo. If fall detection is added, MedicalAlert will swap out the regular pendant for one with the appropriate technology.
MedicalAlert.com’s MobileElite product offers active seniors the protection and peace of mind they need whether they are in their homes or out and about. The product suite includes a pager-style unit with a base charger, as well as a lightweight help button that can be used as a necklace or on the wrist. The pager-style unit includes 2-way communication with the 24/7 monitoring center. GPS location technology is included in case of an emergency where the senior either cannot communicate with the monitoring center, or does not know their current location.
Fall detection is not included in the base product, but can be programmed into the product. Pricing for MedicalAlert’s MobileElite product starts at $37.95/month. It can go as low as $32.04 a month with an annual contract. Fall detection can be added to either product for an additional $10/mo. If fall detection is added, MedicalAlert will swap out the regular pendant for one with the appropriate technology.
Medical Alert offers an additional feature called the 365Access Caregiver App. The app gives family, caregivers and others close to the senior with a Medical Alert package the ability to check in and ensure that they are safe and sound, wherever they are. The app provides updates on their location, the ability to communicate or message with the senior, notifications on changes and other alerts as desired. The Caregiver App is an excellent addition for those who are concerned about the safety of their family member. More information on pricing can be obtained by calling Medical Alert.

Medical Alert Prices
Medical Alert Prices
Medical Alert’s prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the products and monitoring. With just two core product options, pricing is quite easy to understand. There are no hidden fees such as activation fees or shipping costs. It’s also a huge plus that they don’t force seniors into contracts, but rather offer month-to-month payments and easy cancellation. The fall detection add-on is standard at an additional $10 a month, and the additional cost for cellular connection is very typical amongst medical alert companies.
One area that Medical Alert could improve is availability of pricing. It’s a little more difficult to find information about other add-on features and their app without calling them. It would be preferable if the information was easier to locate. Overall, Medical Alert’s pricing for their service is very fair considering their positive reputation and reliability of service.
